Heart Smart

Our guest speaker this week will be Alane Church of Wadsworth, who will tell us about HeartSmart EKG, a foundation which provides free heart screenings for high school athletes.

Alane’s son Josh was a high school swimmer at Warren Township High School when he suddenly collapsed and died from a hidden heart condition in November 2016.

An estimated one out of 300 youngsters have such a condition that could be revealed by an EKG. By 2019 the HeartSmart Foundation provided 90,000 EKGs for student athletes.
